Adult Vball Update: Sharptown Shocks, Delaware Elevator Going Up?...
The women's volleyball leagues saw some major upsets in the final week of play heading into the holiday break. In women's 6-hit, the Sharptown team shocked 1st place Barren Creek on December 15, winning 3 games to 0. Barren Creek entered the match having won 11 of their past 12 games, but Sharptown put an end to that streak. Sharptown had the best record in the league this week at 4-2 and their win pulls the Lions within 2 games of Barren Creek for the division lead. The women's 3-hit league also had an upset this week as Delaware Elevator stunned first place powerhouse Azar Eye Institute on Dec. 14, winning 2 games to 1. Delaware Elevator has been on the rise recently and has been playing much better in the last month. The team hopes it can continue their solid play come playoff time in January.
In men's 4 v 4 action, Metro Bail Bonds continues to make a strong push toward the top as they went 5-1 on Wednesday night, including wins over the league's top two teams, BVS and Clear Communication Technologies. Metro Bail has won 10 of 12 games and is only 5 games out of 1st place and one game out of 2nd place in the division.
All leagues will be idle until the new year...here are the updated standings heading into the holiday break:

Upset Sunday: Gamee Elliott, Blues Brothers Record Big Victories
The coed volleyball league produced more surprising results on Sunday, December 14, as two two lower ranked teams became crossover killers and the Blues Brothers brought down a Power A Powerhouse. In the upset of the day, Power B team Gamee Elliott rode the back of Ben Waples en route to a 3-0 win over Power A team Crabs to Go. Gamee Elliott's win moved the team back in third place ahead of PKS & Co. After winning a big crossover against a Power A team last week, PKS found themselves on the other end of the net this week, dropping a 2-1 match to Power C team Just for Hits. The result is hardly a huge upset as Just for Hits is now 20-4 in Power C and is making a strong case that it belongs with the heavy hitters in the league. Another upset took place on Sunday in a divisional contest, as the Blues Brothers II knocked off 2nd place Specific Gravity, 3 games to 0, in a Power A clash. The Blues Brothers have now won 6 straight games and are back in the race for 2nd in Power A, as 4 teams are separated by just three games.
The teams are off for the next two Sundays and play will resume on Sunday, January 3. Here are the updated standings headed into the break:
Power A
1. Big Bangers 30-0
2. Ivesco 17-13
3. Specific Gravity 15-12
4. Joey White Horse Shoeing 15-12
5. Blues Brothers II 14-16
6. Quantico Creek 7-23
7. Crabs to Go 6-24
Power B
1. Harvard Custom 21-6
2. Bank of Delmarva 21-9
3. Gamee Elliot 12-18
4. PKS & Co. 11-19
5. Dig This 6-21
Power C
1. Just for Hits 20-4
2. Cornerstone 15-12
3. Adkins Towing 14-13
4. Davis Refrigeration 1-23

Adult Volleyball Update Dec. 11
It's getting cold out there but the adult volleyball leagues are heating up at various gyms throughout the County. In men's volleyball, Chris Emge and Metro Bail Bonds flexed their collective muscles (see right) on Wednesday going 5-1, including a victory over the league's top team, BVS. Metro Bail Bonds reached .500 for the first time this season and the team is positioned to make a run during the second half of the season. BVS holds a two game lead over Clear Communication Technologies thanks to a three game sweep of Clear Comm in the second match on Wednesday. In women's 3-hit, the standings appear to be set as WR McCain/Coastal Landscaping has caught fire recently grabbing a firm hold of second place after jockeying with Lawn Tech for much of the season. While the WR McCain/Coastal Landscaping squad won't catch first place Azar Eye Institute in the regular season, they could pose a threat in the playoffs as the team defeated Azar on Wednesday and has won 8 out of 9 games.
In women's 6-hit, Barren Creek won a key match on Thursday, December 10 against a tough Lions squad. The win gives Barren Creek a comfortable 4 game lead in the standings with just two and a half weeks to go. One more update next week before the holiday break and then playoff time is around the corner! Here are the standings through December 11:
Men's 4 v 4
1. BVS 18-6
2. Clear Communication Technologies 16-8
3. Metro Bail Bonds 12-12
4. Eastern Shore Podiatry 2-22
Women's 3-Hit
1. Azar Eye Institute 36-9
2. WR McCain 25-20
3. Lawn Tech 19-26
4. Delaware Elevator 10-35
Women's 6-Hit
1. Barren Creek 23-7
2. Lions 19-11
